Bondage Expo Dallas 2014

I have tried to write this blog several times and come up blank, nothing I write will ever come close to this experience and the wonderful time we had with such amazing people. Our sincere gratitude to our wonderful hosts and friends for treating us to an unforgettable week, one that has left us thirsty for BED 2015.

Bondage Expo Dallas is a very new event, this was only its second year and WykD Dave and I have had the honour of teaching and performing at both events. It has already attracted people from all over the globe and still has so much more potential. It is a welcoming event with a very special atmosphere, that looks after its guests and the staff cannot do enough for attendees or presenters. I have not been to an event worldwide that looks after its guests and presenters as well as the BED team do.

Upon arriving we were met at the airport and taken for some much needed nourishment with Captain DK himself. I am going to sound incredibly cheesy here but I don’t care, it really did feel like coming home after a year. After food we went and met some of the BED team and helped put the iconic purple BED bags together.

The Event

The event itself was awesome, with its growing popularity everyone seemed to want to register right before the first class, so classes were delayed by about 45 minutes. I would like to thank everyone who came along to my class, if my nerves were bad to begin with they grew every time another person walked into my class, you were all awesome and definitely the best bunch of people I have had the pleasure to discuss rope bottoming with. It made for some very interesting topics of conversation over the weekend, broke the ice and got people really thinking, including myself. The class grew so large that we ended up moving to just next to the vendor mall, which meant everyone could sit comfortably, but there were noise issues. I appreciate everyone’s patience regarding this issue and thank you to those who helped resolve it.

I have recently received some of the feedback from people who attended this class, I am speechless, blown away and very inspired to keep educating. Thank you all for the constructive criticism, encouragement and compliments. I am delighted so many people got so much from this class. Thank you.

The meet and greet went by in a daze, there was food put on for attendees.  I was a bundle of nerves and in the end had to go to the room to prepare and process. Due to nerves I missed most of Stefano Laforgia’s show. We were on second and had discussed a few potential ideas, but just had fun on stage. I cannot recall what transitions or predicaments Dave put me through although I do remember the tongue clamp. Next up was Hajime Kinoko’s performance. I was exited to see him perform again, as we had not seen him tie since London 2011. His show was breathtaking, very traditional but with Kinoko san’s distinct style. His model ‘T’ was beautiful in his rope. After the shows Dave and I chilled and spent some time together.

Dave taught 3 classes over the weekend, ‘Rope Control and Movement’, ‘Tension’, and ‘How Not to Cripple Your Partner’. All went very well, great discussion and I could see many people improving by the end of each lesson, particularly Tension. How not to cripple your partner had some interesting discussion.

Play

I love teaching and performing at conventions in particular because not only to I get the opportunity to catch up with many of my friends, but we get the change to play and enjoy ourselves. It is extremely rare I trust another rigger enough to tie me, but Dave and -EM- had negotiated a scene for them to tie, Ve-Ra, Cat and myself in a three person suspension. Times like this make me wish we could have had a picture of this process. It felt very organic, each of us were tied in TK and then our predicament grew, slowly each piece was added. It was a strange experience responding to 2 people tying, feeling Ve-Ra and Cat against me. It was very calming, hypnotic and felt ver chilled. It had long gone midnight so technically it was my birthday and this was the second most awesome experience to start of this year with. I had already had the first at midnight.

The After Party

The closing ceremony was a new addition this year, and I was so happy they had it, it really added closure to the weekend. A chance to chill and reflex, swap stories and make promises. It was sad saying goodbye to old friends and new, but many were going to The Church for the after party later that evening and we had been asked to perform so we were looking forward to that.

When we got to the Church, after some interesting touring of Dallas by texassara 😉 There was a few issues and tensions among the performers were high. I would personally like to thank DallasKink for really coming through, he dealt with high pressure and immense stress and still managed to resolve all of the issues before the shows began, I don’t think there are many organisers who care just as much as he does. DallasKink put a lot on the line for the safety of the performers and really came through, for that I am extremely grateful.

It was worth it because each show was wonderful, with their own personality and style really coming through on stage. The atmosphere was fantastic and the venue was packed solid.

-EM- and Ve-Ra performed cleverly, each taking it in turn to add to cats predicament on stage, and cat taking it flawlessly, hanging in futumomo-tsuri for a long time, while -EM- then tied Ve-Ra into a similar predicament. They looked stunning together, Ve-Ra on a hip rope and cat in futumomo-tsuri interlocked together.

I only caught sections of Aeolis and Faeryn Phenix show, but what I did catch was impressive. It was the first time I have seen these two tie together, they have high energy and Aeolis has a sadistic style which worked particularly well in this venue. Their show included one of the most beautiful face up suspensions I have ever seen and Faeryn enduring it amazingly.

I was nervous as ever before this show, particularly after the tensions beforehand, now was the time to breath and let it go. Dressed in Kimono and with no plan in mind we went on stage hand in hand. I can’t help smiling when I think back on this show, we had so much fun together, I could tell Dave just went for it and decided to have fun. I made the mistake of handing him some coconut rope earlier in the day in case he might like to use it, and he did, tying it tightly around my leg and pulling it, hard, stretching me. What I remember most is the cheer when Dave revealed my Seifuku under my kimono. I was so excited about this, and wanted to tell someone so badly. Did I feel like a twat all evening walking around in Kimono? Yes, yes I did, very much so but it was worth every cringe worthy second.  Its the only bit of the show we have on video but you can see the revealing here.

The night ended with one of Hajime Kinoko cyber shows with ‘T’ san. A wonderful sexy intro and excellent bondage that really fit in well at The Church.

Then there was the after after party party, with BED the bondage just keeps going.

After the game

Afterwards

After a bit of food poisoning which Texas BBQ seemed to sort out, we had the opportunity to enjoy some of what Dallas has to offer with our amazing hosts, Kinoko san and Towa san. We got to experience our very first US sex shop, an amazing Dungeon with so much awesome equipment, we went to our very first Baseball game and spent the majority of a day at Dallas World Aquarium which is really worth doing. We ate some fantastic food and shared some great memories with people I now consider good friends.

Saying goodbye was difficult. We wouldn’t miss this event for anything and will definitely be back in 2015. Already counting the days…
